What would happen if a company doesn’t track the working hour of its employees? It could lead to different problems such as miscalculations of their salary due to not being able to track their working hours, calculating their overtime hours, sick days, vacation days, how many days they have left on their annual leave, etc. To make sure that the company runs productively and effectively, tracking the working hours of your employees can be crucial. Everyone needs to come to work on time, use their break time properly, and at the end of the day leave work on the time that has been set. If employees come to work late (and often), they could cause the productivity of the business to go down.
When a company grows in its size, it becomes harder to track all the employees that it has especially with a larger size and bigger numbers of staff. Other than that, it is always good for the HR department and management team to be able to track all the employees’ working hours, tasks that they must do during that day, projects that they need to do or complete, and the location of their employees during working hours. This can be done on the employment timesheet that you can place at different sites of the office or warehouse (depending on the location that you work at).
Depending on the standard and what has been chosen by the management team, it can be a daily, weekly, or monthly timesheet that could be beneficial for the employees and the company as well. If they don’t know what the employees are up to, they might feel like they are out of the loop and they wouldn’t be able to measure the work performance of each employee. Other than using a timesheet, you can also use a timecard. Although this method is a bit old-school, many companies are still using them. The timecard works the same where it will be able to log and record the time when you clock in and clock out of the office.

No matter the type of business that you are running, using a proper employment timesheet is important. For a business that has different projects such as the construction business (as contractors), the food catering service business, hospitality industry, food & beverage industry, or other industries that might have their staff work part-time as well, using a timesheet can make it easier for the finance department to calculate their salaries at the end of the period. As an owner of a business, you must remember that time is money. You need to always stay productive and effective. This can be seen by making sure that all your employees come to work on time.
One employment timesheet can be used for each department and can be filled out by multiple employees (more than 1). If there were only a few people in the department, there is no point in using many timesheets for the same department. They can all use the same timesheet and make sure that they are on a different tab (if the timesheet is done in Microsoft Excel).
